Hi, I'm Varun!

I am a venture designer, social entrepreneur and jazz singer. Currently, I am fortunate to be a Morehead-Cain Scholar at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and will be graduating in 2021.

As a computer science major and entrepreneurship minor, I hope to explore the possibilities for technology to increase access and opportunity for the most underserved societies. Maybe it's because I am a global nomad.

As an Australian by citizenship, an Indian by heritage, and having lived in Singapore and Switzerland, the world has been my classroom.

My exposure to an array of cultures, people and experiences enables me to push past the obvious. It provides me with a rich pool of inspiration, and fires up an insatiable curiosity.

A curiosity for the possibilities that exist when business meets design. When the efficiencies of markets are aligned with the needs of the people. When we take the time to feel, to listen and to learn about the community that exists around us.

Something amazing happens every time I have done just that. The values and motivations of a society shed light on the best path forward. They demonstrate a roadmap to adoption and acceptation. They often illustrate the narrative of a people ready for their fortunes to change.

It is my belief that through the marriage of genuine empathy and innovative enterprise models that we can create opportunities that are capacity building in nature for communities, cities and nations.

My name is Varun Jain, and I am a designer for an economically prosperous, environmentally friendly and socially conscious tomorrow.

Special thank you to my friends who have helped me build idea after idea, and my family for their consistent support and optimism.
